How does payment work with Hertz MiniLease? 

With Hertz MiniLease, you conveniently pay your monthly rate by credit card. Payment is made monthly in advance, at the beginning of each new subscription period. It’s a flat-rate car subscription, meaning the rate covers everything: insurance, maintenance, tires, taxes, and registration. No hidden costs – full transparency.

Is my credit card checked? 

Yes. Before your MiniLease starts, your credit card will be verified with a so-called "zero-value transaction" (0 CHF charge). This is a security check to ensure that your card is active and functional. No money will be debited. 

Renter not driver – Can someone else pay for me? 

Yes, that's possible. Hertz allows a third party to take over the payment – even if you're the actual vehicle user. In this case, the subscription is in your name, but the credit card can belong to another person. Important:

  • The third person must provide written consent (e.g. via payment authorization or by being listed as the official payer during the contract signing).
  • The cardholder must be present at the initial pick-up.
  • You remain the legally responsible renter, even if you're not the driver. 

For prestige vehicles, this rule does not apply – the driver must also be the cardholder.

Other debit cards or Hertz Charge Cards may be accepted, but restrictions may apply.
